Our Club Today Young Irelands GAA Club represents the parish of Gowran which includes the villages of Gowran and Dungarvan. With new housing developments both in the village and rural townlands the parish population has increased substantially in recent years. The enrolment in the parish national school has increased substantially in the past five years. This increase in pupil numbers directly reflects the increase in our juvenile membership. The Future...... Although the existing Club facilities have served the Community well over the last 40 years they are now seriously over-used. As is evident from this overview the club is at a crossroads in its development and there is a requirement to provide facilities which will serve us adequately into the future. Suitable land has been purchased by the club. This land is located at Castlellis and is adjacent to the local national school. A planning application was lodged with Kilkenny County Council in May 2012 with planning permission granted in 2013.. Club Development |
